Know Your Skin Type:

Although a healthy skin barrier is essential for all skin types, it is also important to remember that everyone’s skin is unique in many ways. This means that there is no “one size fits all” approach to achieving radiant, healthy-looking skin. However, there are several unifying characteristics to look for or questions you can ask your customers to help them & yourself understand their skin type.

Firstly always ask if they know their skin type before recommending products. If they aren't sure, you can recomend them to do one of the following tests:

  • The day test, seeing how your face goes on a typical day; Does it stay dry? Turn oily? Feel itchy? Oily just on the T zone?
  • The wash test; Cleasne your face with a gentle cleasner and see how your skin feels after 30 mins.
  • Seek a derm; Look for more tailored and specific advice if you aren't ever sure.

Skin types Vary from person to person and are categorised as: Normal, Combination, Dry, Oily/ Blemish prone, Prone to Pigmentation, Mature age & Sensitive

How To Manage Dry Skin:

Dry skin generally produces less natural sebum than other types of skin. This may cause it to appear dull and become rough, flaky, or even scaly.

It often feels tight or less elastic, noticeably dehydrated, and may be prone to showing more visible fine lines and  it may become itchy or irritated than other skin types.

Here are some recommendations for supporting a Dry skin type:

  • Hydration; Drink Plenty of Water: helping your skin maintainin moisture.

A skincare routine for dry skin should include gentle, soothing, and hydrating ingredients that help maintain the skin’s protective moisture barrier:

  • Hyaluronic Acid: This is a powerful humectant that can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, making it excellent for hydrating dry skin. plumping the skin’s appearance.
  • Niacinamide: A form of Vitamin B3, niacinamide helps to boost the skin’s barrier function, reduce inflammation, and prevent moisture loss. overall skin texture.
  • Ceramides: Ceramides are lipids (fats) that naturally occur in the skin and are crucial for maintaining the skin barrier. They help to lock in moisture and protect against environmental aggressors. If your cells are bricks ceramides work as the mortar to help create that nice strong skin barrier and skin barrier function.
